The site of Lixue Primary School, located at the intersection of Banlan Avenue and Huancheng Road, is situated between a noisy urban environment and high-density communities. Drawing inspiration from the “semi-enclosed courtyard” spatial organization concept that echoes the wisdom of Longgang’s Hakka people, it uses a complete and gentle urban facade to block and respond to urban noise, creating a quiet haven for 24 classes of children at the bustling main road intersection.

Leveraging the site’s height difference, a broad and gentle ramp connects the campus main entrance with teaching spaces on each floor, forming a rich and vibrant urban campus space. Through the full integration of internal public spaces, large-scale spaces such as the elevated playground, library, and lecture hall are closely combined with overhead courtyards (serving as noise buffers) and the campus’ main circulation routes. This ensures full utilization of large-space resources, allowing Lixue Primary School to provide open and unobstructed campus learning and living spaces for teachers and students on all floors even with a plot ratio of 2.4.

With the connection of vertical circulation routes that span floors, the spatial experience in Lixue Primary School is no longer fragmented by floors or buildings. Instead, it becomes a complete and rich three-dimensional campus that, though complex, establishes a vivid experiential coordinate system in children’s minds—similar to a village. At the same time, the noisy urban landscape is transformed from a negative influence into a lively campus scenery.

temp architects is mainly responsible for the overall architectural design of the office area and the external exhibition area of this project, as well as its related traffic organization, interior design and landscape design.

The design sets up an entrance for employees and visitors on the south side of the base. The visitor route is 400 meters long from here to the ecological park. Along the way, you can see the exhibition and central control demonstration area, comprehensive pretreatment workshop, anaerobic tanks, aging workshop, biogas slag resource workshop, biological breeding workshop, and finally the ecological park. In order to give the relatively limited visiting area a spacious feeling, the design treats the roof of the factory and the visiting area into a similar folded plate form, and uses the isomorphic method to make the visiting area visually connected with the internal space of the factory. At the same time, the design uses the surrounding overhang of the roof to form a large-scale coverage of the public area to echo the surrounding stretch of tidal flats.

The Cloud Pavilion is located on the outskirts of Zhangyan Village, adjacent to open paddy field. Although it is not within the core architectural control area, it still adheres to the planning guidelines for sloping roofs. This ensures that the substantial conference center maintains a village-like scale when facing the rice fields. Inside, the public space, compressed by the large volume of the auditorium, creates a rich and dynamic experience between the undulating roof and orthogonal structural columns

The original homesteads of the Hotel belonged to two independent families. Under the unified management of the guesthouse owners, their environmental resources were overall integrated. In balancing area control and operational needs, both buildings were fully constructed to three floors. The public activity areas on the ground floor were integrated with the reorganized external site environment, while the guest rooms on the upper two floors achieved porous or spacious environmental characteristics in a high spatial density through the spatial interaction between the ground and the sloping roof. By means of the elevation changes of the mountain at the back of the building, the dynamic line organization integrated the diachronic spatial experience from the public area to each independent guest room with the external environmental landscape. While not changing the climatic airtightness of the guest rooms, it allows guests to obtain a living experience like being in an open mountain forest.

The “Hui Fu Bridge,” built during the Qianlong period, spans the small creek channel on the east side of the building along the main road of the original village along the river. The lower stone wall of Hui Fu Tang is closely attached to the rubble revetment at the head of the bridge, while the upper part combines the fine traditional scale with the new public view of the river mouth through a hybrid of reinforced concrete and wood structures.

The building is merged with a constantly rising spiral formed by a pedestrian ramp. The ramp starts as a path surrounding half of the building, then it goes through the interior and arrives the surface of the building. It keeps going up surrounding the surface of the building and finally arrive the roof where people can enjoy beautiful view. As a countryside hotel composed by 6 rooms and subsidiary facilities, the building is divided into east part and west part. These two parts are split-level in order to effectively use the space under the constrain of overall building height. The staircase is set between these two parts. Because of the split-level design, on the ground floor, the lobby has a tall space and the height of the kitchen and other facilities is appropriate. Every room is customized to avoid the disturbing from the ramp surrounding the building. One has a terrace connecting the ramp whereas has a space above the ramp to achieve the privacy; One achieve the privacy through the space below the ramp and create a sense of intimacy through the short space under the ramp; One has a window with curtain between ramp and room whereas has another large window on the high area for the private attic, etc. This hotel is located in the farmland near a village. It is surrounded by mountains far away whereas has open view of the farmland. The ramp surrounding the hotel not only create the interest of entry but also let the guests frequently get the view toward far away mountains to keep their imaging of mountain village. The opening to connect different rooms and ramp, and the merging with staircase and ramp to create shortcuts weaken the leading shape of the spiral ramp and let the spiral be a relationship for the composition of the whole architecture. The spiral is softer after its leading shape is weaken. In actual use, people would casually and discontinuously use the ramp, so its space would merge with other spaces in people’s experience.

Located in the Yangtze River delta with developed textile industry, garment factories in Jiaxing are transforming from an age of OEM（Original Equipment Manfacturer）to a period of building up their own brands. The owner of this textile factory aims to create experiential fashion park, including retail, café, office and production line. It is planned to be built step by step. The restoration of the first floor of two factory buildings into retails goes first, together with the layout and landscape design of the entrance space of the park.

The first floor of the building next to the main entrance on north is changed to boutique store. The original structure is one span concrete framework;，bringing up a nearly one-meter-high beam, reducing the height of the ground floor of 3.9 meter. In order to maintain the spacious feeling and alienate the structural beam, we reshape those beams to create a feeling of layered caves. Most of the caves are shallow as the width of the column, while some are deep as a room when the curtain-cave is combined with function rooms like fitting room and reception desk. We endows this layered cave with an image of Taihu Stone, by attaching wallpaper with abstract image based on Taihu Stone onto those curtain-caves.South to the boutique store is a complex of retails transformed from the ground floor of an original office building. It is intentionally composed of cafe, cheongsam store, children’s garment, DIY workshop and home-textile stores, whose sale contents are postponed to the next construction stage. Based on those above, we propose to separate the floor into several rooms to display different products. In the meanwhile, a circuitous exterior corridor is brought forth, together with the connecting canopy, enclosing a intimate longitudinal garden in between two buildings.

Due to transportation requirements, all bridges on the Dianpu River should maintain a clear height of no more than 4.8 meters from the normal water level in the channel, so that each vehicle bridge on the river is provided with approach bridge up to 100 meters long. These approach bridges have a significant impact on the urban space on both sides, so that the average distance between each vehicle bridge reaches 750 meters. This means that the addition of a pedestrian bridge between two vehicle bridges is a very important improvement for urban circulation across the river. Tassel Bridge is one of this kind of large-span pedestrian bridge. Its north bank is a cramped urban river bank, and its south bank is an open residential park (Nanqingyuan Garden). For the city, Tassel Bridge is the entrance and extension of Nanjing Garden. The swinging triangular steel frames and the curved sun shades attached on steel frames bring the park’s recreational atmosphere to the north bank. The foundation, steel structure and appendages of the bridge are built by different types of construction units: the main structure is produced by the steel structure company’s factory in the city of Jiujiang 600km away and shipped to the site for lifting; the foundations and abutments are constructed on site with reinforced concrete; Attachments such as shades, footpaths, and railings were manually installed on-site by the workers of landscape construction team. Taking advantage of the respective characteristics of these three construction methods, we combine crude bridge abutments, long-span steel frames with complex spatial forms and changeable appendages with simple principle in an interactive way to create the delighted space in this infrastructure over 75m of structural span.
